Well, this was predictable.
Paddy Pimblett recently commented about UFC star Dustin Poirier during an event promoting his fight with Michael Chandler for UFC 314. Pimblett called Poirier an “idiot” for wanting to retire because he was competitive during his match against lightweight champ Islam Makhachev despite losing to a submission in the fifth round last June.
Then he added that he believed he would beat Dustin Poirier in a match.
The reactions from fans were swift and savage:
One commenter left by a fan at MMAfighting.com wrote, “I guess Paddy wants to be faud checked then. I wouldn’t mind that, personally speaking, but I know for a fact the UFC would protect Paddy from that fate.”
Another fan called for the fight if he beats Chandler so that Pimblett can “find out for himself that Poirier is levels above him.”
Another fan noted that Dustin Poirier has been professionally fighting for 16 years and, for the sake of his body, has the right to quit when he wants to.
Dustin hasn’t responded or even mentioned Pimblett; however, he recently posted a hilarious meme after Connor McGregor visited the White House.

No Response From Porier
We recently posted that Poirier wants to end his career in his home state of Louisiana; however, there hasn’t been a UFC event there for some time.
“I actually been having calls every week with the UFC, but it’s looking like summer in New Orleans is close to happening for my retirement fight,” Poirier told The Schmo.
However, who he is going to fight is anybody’s guess.
Justin Gaethje is out, Michael Chandler is out, and arguably so is Charles Olveira, who’s ranked number two in the lightweight division and wants another title shot.
I feel like we’ve all seen enough of Dustin and Max Holloway.
Some people have talked about Nate Diaz, and that would have been interesting a couple of years ago, but not now. Whoever Poirier fights is more than likely going to be up to him.
