  • New Allegation Suggests It Wasn’t Jon Jones’ Decision to Retire; Aspinall’s Father Speaks Out

If Dana White was hoping the Jon Jones controversy was over, he’s got another thing coming.

Tom Aspinall’s father recently expressed his discontent with how the situation unfolded.

Tom Aspinall’s father was unhappy with how the UFC announced Tom as the new undisputed champion: “I sent a message back to Hunter saying, ‘I can’t think of a worse way you could have done it’… For me, the heavyweight championship of an organization is quite a big thing, and I don’t think Tom deserved to find out at a press conference in the middle of the night… We just happened to be awake at the time. It’s poor man management of Jones and Tom. I like the personnel at the UFC, but for me, they just don’t do things right sometimes.”

Look, the whole thing was a debacle, and the cherry on top of the insanity was new criminal charges being filed against Jones at about the same time Dana White announced Jones’ retirement.

Which leads us to a very strong allegation that was made online by an account that is known to be friends with Jon Jones.

“Starting to think it wasn’t Jon’s decision to announce his retirement when he did. The timing is all too convenient. UFC gets wind that the news from ABQ will hit, so they say to Jon you can retire or be stripped. They effectively washed their hands of him. The audio is very troubling,” the UFC commentating account Fight Oracle wrote.

“So now if asked about Jon, Dana can say he has nothing to do with it. Jon is no longer an active fighter. Next question. And he’d be right. Now he doesn’t have to talk about it. That’s playing your cards well,” he added.
