Alex Pereira’s recent social media video has fans buzzing — but not just for what’s happening inside the cage. The former two-division UFC champion has fans on the edge of their seat wondering if he may move to the heavyweight division. And let’s be clear: if “Poatan” makes that leap, it could set the stage for a monster showdown with current UFC interim heavyweight champ Tom Aspinall.
Pereira recently tipped the scales at 243 pounds (110.25 kg) in a now-viral Instagram weigh-in, showing off a bulked-up frame that has the MMA world doing double takes. While Aspinall says he’s not sure what Pereira’s planning, he did hint that a rematch at light heavyweight might still be on the champ’s mind. “If I was him, I’d want to get a rematch and get the light heavyweight belt back,” Aspinall said in a recent conversation with Stefan Struve. “But I’m not him.”

I must admit, I’m sort of surprised at Aspinall’s response for a guy who said he’d fight anybody.
Aspinall does have a point, though. Pereira enjoys having fun on social media.
Not too long ago, Pereira had some fun on the internet, and we didn’t complain.

Look, I like Pereira moving up to heavyweight, and I love the idea of him fighting Aspinall. However, there are some guys like Derrick Lewis and company who have been patient throughout the Jon Jones saga that deserve a shot first.
As for Aspinall, if you claim you are itching for a fight and want to get paid, Pereira is undoubtedly a way to do it.
