  • How The Jon Jones-Aspinall Saga Could Be The Best Thing That’s Happened To The UFC In A Long Time

Finally, the Jon Jones junior-high-level social media drama is over.

Most of us can agree that this nonsense dragged on far too long.

But there’s a major silver lining that could emerge from all this ridiculous drama—one that might significantly benefit both the UFC and its fans.

The UFC is currently in a state of transition. Many longtime fan favorites have either retired or are nearing the end of their careers. There’s a lot of turnover happening across the roster.

Dana White has been leaning heavily on his mega-stars for attention—bringing Amanda Nunes back, teasing a Conor McGregor return, and, of course, using Jon Jones to generate headlines.

And yes, those moves created buzz… but it all fizzled out like air leaking from a balloon. On top of that, the UFC’s matchmaking—once a point of pride—has become a chaotic mess.

But amidst the chaos of the Jones saga, one thing became clear. And hopefully, Dana noticed it.

Fans want good fights. Stars are great, but they come second.

I want to tune into UFC Fight Night and watch four hours of high-level martial arts. Honestly, I don’t care who’s fighting—I just want to see professionals compete at their best.

I’ll say this again and again until the UFC listens: Good fights make stars, and stars make money.

So stop leaning on relics of the past and start focusing on putting together great matchups in the Octagon.

That’s what built the UFC—and that’s what will keep it thriving.
