What was set to be a pivotal clash between Maycee Barber and Erin Blanchfield turned into a scene of confusion and controversy when Barber suffered a medical emergency just moments before walking to the Octagon. A seizure, according to early reports, sent her straight from the UFC Apex to a nearby hospital—and the MMA world into a storm of speculation.
Now, Maycee Barber has broken her silence.

In a measured and somber Instagram post, Barber acknowledged the chaos and pain of the moment, offering gratitude to fans and a public apology to UFC matchmakers and her would-be opponent, Erin Blanchfield. “Not what I had planned for a Sunday post,” she began, pulling no punches about the gravity of the situation. Barber’s message, while brief, was both a thank you and a recognition of responsibility. “PS my life is not messy,” she wrote—a pointed retort to Blanchfield’s sharp critique that her life and career were spiraling.
That retort didn’t come from nowhere. Just hours earlier, Blanchfield—already upset by Barber’s failure to make weight by 1.5 pounds—predicted publicly that Barber might pull out. And when Barber did just that, under emergency medical circumstances, Blanchfield didn’t hold back. She slammed her opponent’s professionalism, accused her of playing games, and essentially questioned Barber’s integrity.
Rightfully so.
Blanchfield was ready to fight and her opponent at the very least concealed she was hurt. You can’t tell me Barber didn’t know she was injured and then to travel to Vegas and mess up the main event is ridiculous.
As things die down I wouldn’t be surprised if it was learned that Barber did have a “medical emergency.” More than likely, Barber had some type of health issue and when it was time to fight had an anxiety attack because she knew she couldn’t fight.
