  • Kamaru Usman’s Social Media Video Did Not Go Over Well With UFC Fans

Recently, Kamaru Usman posted a video on social media that didn’t go over well with UFC fans.

The former UFC welterweight champ’s video featured a series of clips showing him training. However, everyone in the comments section (and I mean just about everyone) teased him over not having fought in the last two years.

The video comes after current welterweight champ Belal Muhammad slammed Usman over his comment about not booking a fight with Islam Makhachev.

Muhammad called him a “podcaster.”

“It’s so funny when you have a guy like him. He’s on a three-fight losing streak, and when these guys are calling him out, he’s acting like – he’s putting himself on this pedestal like he’s still the champ, like they shouldn’t be calling him out,” Muhammad told MMA Junkie Radio. “But, bro, you’re just a podcaster now. You haven’t fought in over a year. If you’re not gonna defend your ranking, then leave. Quit.”

“You’re on a three-fight losing streak and should start looking at retirement now, or you’re gonna get on that Tony Ferguson losing streak, and people are gonna forget that you were ever champion,” he added.

Usman On A Skid

In 2022, Usman lost the belt to Leon Edwards and hasn’t been the same. Many believe he returned to the octagon too soon after his initial loss to Edwards.

Just seven months after being knocked out, Usman returned for a rematch, with Edwards losing by decision. Seven months later, he lost to Chimaev by decision.

Usman hasn’t won a fight since 2021.

Did Usman Come Back Too Soon

Following the rematch with Edwards, Usman received some criticism for coming back too soon after being knocked out by Edwards. Did he give himself enough time to recover physically and mentally from the knockout?

We sort of learned that answer.

Yes, he did, and then taking the fight on short notice with Chimaev wasn’t a great idea either.

What Usman’s plans are next is anybody’s game, but posting a video showing you training when there is no news of an upcoming fight isn’t exactly a flex.
